Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the State Shipments for March 2019.

Here are a few key findings:

  • U.S. beer shipment volume declined by 3.2% during March 2019, which had one fewer sell day compared to March 2018.
  • On a selling day adjusted basis, beer shipments were up 1.5% in March 2019.
  • Performance was generally softer in the western states, where precipitation was heavier than normal during the month.
  • To avoid running out of stock, beer suppliers continue to report building distributor inventories, especially on FMBs (including hard seltzers), in anticipation of consumer demand during the summer selling season.
