Horror movie postersIn July, the Ad Standards Community Panel (the Community Panel) looked at complaints about advertisements for two horror movie posters on outdoor billboards. Complainants were concerned about the frightening imagery. However, the Community Panel found that the images did not constitute a portrayal of violence that would breach community standards. I don’t snore… I dream that I’m a motorcycle!Complaints about an advertisement for a sleep clinic were upheld by the Community Panel with nothing funny found about the snoring creative. The TV ad showed a woman repeatedly hitting her snoring partner, with complainants concerned about the depiction of domestic violence. The Panel agreed, noting the ad breached the Code for portraying violence that was unjustifiable in the context of the service provided.
