Become an Approved Radio Engineer or Approved Radio Certifier

  • Do you need access to the Register of Radio Frequencies (RRF) to help your radio clients to apply for, certify, modify or cancel a radio or spectrum licence?
  • Are you a radio dealer, or involved in providing radio communications in a particular sector?
  • Do you fit the criteria to be an Approved Person?

In 2020 RSM will offer workshops to assist competent persons in the radio communications industry to become an Approved Radio Engineer (ARE) or Approved Radio Certifier (ARC).

Call for expressions of interest in FM sound broadcasting licence

An Application has been received for the following FM broadcasting spectrum licence:

  • Main St Methven (Canterbury) 100.5 MHz, licence ID 209623, reserve price: $1,510 incl. GST.

Radio Spectrum Management is seeking expressions of interest in this commercial FM licence, closing 5pm on 6 January 2020.

Following this, a decision will be made regarding if the licence can be allocated by direct sale or by a competitive allocation process.

Applications received for Managed Spectrum Park licences

Applications have been received for radio spectrum licences in the 2.5 GHz Managed Spectrum Park band.  Potential uses for this spectrum include wireless broadband services.

Since November 2010, parties interested in utilising this spectrum have been able to apply for access on a first-come, first-served basis, but with sharing processes required to be negotiated by applicants. Applications have been received by the Crown Spectrum Asset Manager from:

Wellington International Airport Limited, for licences with coverage in parts of the Wellington City and Lower Hutt City TLA areas.
