orogenesis |ˌôrəˈjenəsəs| noun.
a process in which a section of the earth's crust is folded and deformed by lateral compression to form a mountain range.

The first in a series of once in a lifetime craft beer releases - Antler honors the very first observable tectonic event that played a part in bringing Nevada up from the the sea floor some 380 million years ago. Its name comes from Antler Peak, just southwest of Battle Mountain in Nevada where telltale marks of this first mountain building event can still be seen today. Details on this primeval brew and release party to follow in the coming weeks.

The Great Reno Balloon Race is floating into town September 8-10, and with it comes our limited release of Dawn Patrol Crystal Pale Ale. It’s the official beer of the Great Reno Balloon Race and as light and refreshing as a floating through a cloudless sky. Every time you purchase a Dawn Patron, we make a donation to the Great Reno Balloon Race to help it fly even higher. Enjoy it now in 6-packs and our brewpubs, but hurry – what goes up, must come down.

As climate change creates more extreme weather around the country, we’re reaching out to help locally by becoming an ambassador in the National Weather Service's Weather-Ready Nation. We’ll help by speaking about how to prepare for extreme blizzards, floods, droughts and more.

Our first weather outreach will be a Winter Weather Preparedness talk given by the National Weather Service on October 20 at Taps and Tanks. Watch for more details in the next issue of Unfiltered.

Never Say Die

Recently found in a Utah stream, the Pilot Peak species of Lahontan Cutthroat Trout was thought be extinct. It is currently being reintroduced into it's native habitat. In conjunction with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, we will have three presentations at our Taps & Tanks brewery on October 12, 19, and 26 where it will be discussed. To close out the event trifecta and celebrate the reintroduction of this species, we’ll have a big party on Sunday, October 28th. We’ll have more details in the next issue of Unfiltered.

Hurricane Harvey Relief
