PICA heads interstate for VOLUME 2015: Another Art Book Fair
PICA will be in Sydney next week for the inaugural VOLUME 2015: Another Art Book Fair presented by Artspace in partnership with Perimeter Books and Printed Matter Inc. We're taking stacks of artist books, catalogues and PICA Press Publications, such as this super-cool, limited edition KINESPHERE monograph by Erin Coates! PICA won't be the only ones repping WA over east, apropos.provisional
and the crew from State Team WA will also be holding stalls at the fair to represent WA artists and publications.

SDS1 at Warnbro Community High School
Ahilan Ratnamohan recently went out to PICA’s Spark_Lab partner school, Warnbro Community High School, to run workshops with years 9 – 12 as part of an initiative to engage with the local community. In this interactive workshop, Ahil challeneged students to explore definitions of football and dance to create individual and group performances. See the Facebook album from the day here!

Studio Zero: Anna Dunnill
Anna Dunnill is a Perth-based artist whose practice involves drawing, embroidery and stick-and-poke tattooing while exploring the themes of communication, anxiety and human connection/isolation. During her residency she will investigate the performative possibilities of tattoo and embroidery, along with the unconventional narratives and modes of communication through these forms.

Studio Two: Peter Cheng
Following on from his latest video project and self-published book, film maker and visual artist Peter Cheng will be developing an extension of his arts documentary project entitled Perth Artists. Peter hopes to profile a new selection of artists ranging diverse creative fields to develop a contemporarily relevant and holistic understanding of local artisanship.

Inspired by a true story, LIFE charts the friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock and actor James Dean when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for Life magazine in 1955.
