Welcome to the first Council newsletter on the work we are doing to maintain, repair and improve our city’s roads and pipes.

As SCIRT finishes its earthquake repair programme the Christchurch City Council is enhancing its maintenance, upgrade and repair programme. We hope you will find this newsletter a valuable source of information on our roading and 3 waters projects.

We'll be putting out editions of this newsletter when we have major project updates.

We also welcome your feedback on what you'd like the newsletter to cover. Please get in touch at infrastructurenews@ccc.govt.nz and let us know your thoughts.

If you know of anyone who would like to receive the e-newsletter please ask them to email their name and residential address or organisation to infrastructurenews@ccc.govt.nz and ask to be added to the e-newsletter distribution list.

Roading and pipe repairs

We’ve budgeted over $600 million over the next five years to repair our horizontal services which includes:

• Roading
• 3 waters – wastewater, fresh water supply and stormwater

Keep up-to-date on the Council’s major roading and 3 waters projects at www.ccc.govt.nz/roadsandpipes. Ahead of any work commencing, works notices will be issued to communities in the surrounding areas.

Children’s book on the Christchurch rebuild

Christchurch civil structural engineer and author Phil Wilkins has written Christchurch-Our Underground Story, a children’s book about the work SCIRT has done to repair and rebuild the city’s hidden underground services.

Illustrated by Martin Coates, this lift-the-flap picture book will help children learn where water comes from, where it goes and everything in between. Sales from the book has gone to Ronald McDonald House South Island. Expressions of interest are open for the June print run.
