Missionary Send-Off | Simpsons Family

This Sunday on the Ventura campus we have the blessing of sending Taylor and Kavi Simpson and their three children back to Soddo, Ethiopia.

The Simpsons returned to California in May to have their baby boy in Ventura, but now they are returning to Ethiopia to join their team members, the Yates, in the work God has called them to. In preparation for missions, God led Kavi to become a Family Physician trained with skills geared toward working in underserved areas with minimal resources. Taylor is an architect trained in designing hospitals both in the United States and less developed countries. Their vision revolves around using the skills and passions God has given them to ignite community transformation. They will be using Community Health Evangelism (CHE), along with training Ethiopian Primary Care Physicians and working on designing and constructing projects at Soddo Hospital.

Please commit to praying for this wonderful family and learn more by reading their blog. Prayer cards are available at the mission table on all campuses.

Global Spotlight | Team Roatan

This month the Roatan Team is excited to come alongside the ministry of Reality's long-term missionaries Hank and Kathy Stanley. The Stanleys are an incredible family God has anointed to minister the Gospel within their own community. They are the founders of Alpha Community Church in Pandy Town in Roatan. For one week, August 16th-23rd the team will be blessed to serve the local church in prayer, service and exhortation. The team will be taking physical items as well, so if you would like to partner with them you can donate items such as:

  • children's ministry supplies (new crafts materials, toys, etc.)
  • sports supplies (new soccer or basketball gear)
  • hygiene items (new toothbrush, soap, deodorant, etc.)
  • construction tools/supplies (new/used tape measures, work gloves, power tools, etc.)

To learn about how to contribute financially and ways to pray go to the team's blog.

Young Adult Worship & Prayer | Ventura Campus

Please join us on Friday, August 22nd at 7pm at the Ventura campus for a Young Adult Worship and Prayer Night. This night is for anyone who has a heart for young adults in their 20s and 30s or is a young adult themselves. Reality is unifying with six other churches in the area to gather around Christ in prayer, preaching and worship. Christ is bigger than one church, which is why it is exciting to unify with other churches in Ventura to worship Christ together. On Friday night we will be worshiping together and seeking God's heart for young adults in Ventura County.

Perspectives on the World Christian Movement

Coming this fall, Reality will be hosting Perspectives on the World Christian Movement! This is a 15-week course featuring 15 unique and dynamic speakers. The class is designed around four main vantage points or “perspectives” on the Great Commission – Biblical, Historical, Cultural, and Strategic. Each one is designed to give you the “big picture” of God’s plan for the world and your role in it. We encourage anyone who is serious about gaining a deeper understanding of God’s ultimate purpose in the world to attend.

The class will be offered at the Carpinteria campus on Monday nights and at the Ventura campus on Tuesday nights starting September 8th and 9th from 6:30-9:30pm. For more information and to register go to their website and search for either the Carpinteria or Ventura class. College credit and ACSI units are available. Register before September 1st for the early bird discount! Family discounts are also available.

Compass Financial Class

Compass is an interdenominational ministry that trains people of all ages to apply the financial principles from the Bible. The reason it is named Compass is to remind us that we need God's financial direction.

This is a nine week course. The class meets for two hours, once a week. Personal financial numbers are never disclosed, and the weekly homework questions will take only about 15 minutes each day to complete. The participants will complete practical financial exercises, such as beginning a spending plan or designing a debt repayment plan, that will be worked on throughout the course. The chapters in the curriculum include God's part & our part, Debt, Honesty & Counsel, Generosity, Work, Saving & Investing, Crisis & Perspective, and Eternity.

Space is extremely limited, and applicants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Cost is $55 per couple and $45 per single. Below are the orientation nights where the class materials will be distributed and an overview of the class is presented.
