ARF and RHD are prevalent in children and young adults in the Northern Territory. They are caused by Strep A (Streptococcus pyogenes) infection of the throat and skin. RACP | Experts to consider trauma informed ways of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peopleThis presentation will bring a deeper consideration of how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people consider health to be holistic, and that physical health is affected by the social, emotional and cultural wellbeing of both individuals and the broader community. Marie Stopes Australia | New online gp resources to help women find their perfect contraception matchMarie Stopes Australia has created a new web resource to help women re-assess their contraception at various life stages and reflect on a broader range of contraceptive alternatives that might suit them. To help facilitate contraception information exchange between practitioners and patients, a specialised contraception kit for practices. University of Melbourne, Department of General Practice | Research survey for primary care Data Custodians and Data UsersThe purpose of this research is to map the existence of Australian primary care datsets (with a focus on general practice), identify data linkage tools and data quality frameworks. Findings will help identify strategies to maximise the effectiveness of secondary use of primary care data. Family Planning Welfare Association of NT | FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive & Sexual Health for DoctorsThis 5-day course (5 - 9th November in Darwin) is nationally accredited by Family Planning Alliance Australia (FPAA) and has standardised assessment. The full national Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health is awarded on completion of both theoretical and clinical aspects of the course. Registrations close on 9th October. National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) | Resources availableThe NEDC provides professional resources and training to assist with the screening, assessment referral and management of eating disorders. ISACNT | Indentifying Jobs in Demand in the NTA successful NT business depends on having people with the right skills for priority jobs. Many NT businesses report they struggle to find and keep skilled workers. ISACNT works with Industry and Government to help ensure there are sufficient skilled people available for employment. Nutrition Support ProgramsThis program is designed to provide skills and knowledge for a range of health professionals and others working within Indigenous health to provide detailed information and advice in relation to nutrition and dietary management. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) - Steps to AccessThis interactive face-to-face education session was put together from questions asked by GP's regarding the NDIS. Foot Health Assessment ProgramThis program is designed to provide skills and knowledge for a range of health professionals and others working within Indigenous health to provide detailed information and advice in relation to foot health management. Spirometry UpdateThe Spirometry Training Update provides refresher training in the application, measurement and interpretation of spirometry in general practice. Insertion and removal of Implanon NXTThis training will teach knowledge and skills required for the safe insertion and removal of Implanon NXT. This includes simulation practice on model arms. Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CoursesThese events will provide up to date skills and knowledge required to provide CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. Rheumatic Heart Disease WorkshopThis workshop has been designed to build participants' knowledge, skills and confidence when responding to RHD and to prevent acute rheumatic fever (ARF). Primary Health Response to Sexual AssaultAt the end of this CPD event Primary Health Care and Emergency Department clinicians will gain an understanding of the immediate needs and appropriate responses in caring for clients who attend a Primary Health Care facility or Emergency Department following a sexual assault.
