HFI: A Compassionate Presence Around the World!

Dear Friends,

It has been a great start to 2017 here at Hope Force International (HFI)!  We hope you'll join us in being encouraged by the current initiatives and programs that we are currently engaged in. Excitement is brewing as we extend our presence in Mexico, plan our imminent return to Nepal, continue our ongoing intitiatives in West Virginia and Haiti -- all the while training and equiping new HFI Reservists across North America. It's our hope that you'll enjoy catching up on the latest -- and be inspired to join us as we bring hope through compassionate action to a hurting world!

The relationship that has been established with Apple of God's Eyes (AOGE) over the last two years has decidedly gone from partnership to that of "family." We're anticipating a deepening of this relationship as a team of 35 will once again visit in April 2017. This team – comprised of medical & dental professionals, as well as a crew focused on construction – will return to Kathmandu and AOGE's "The Farm" to continue in the long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts since the devasting 2015 earthquake.

As we make our return in several weeks, would you please consider making a financial donation to help with the acquisition of supplies and materials needed for construction and medical clinics? Please CLICK HERE for details on our projects and budget.

Rebuilding ECCA School

Haiti’s educational system was teetering on the edge of breakdown before the earthquake hit in 2010.

Located very close to the epicenter, in between Leogane and Gressier, the Ecole Chrétien du Centre de L’Agneau (Center of the Lamb Christian School: ECCA) also struggled to survive the effects of the earthquake. The building that housed the school was totally destroyed. Read More

Through the help of strategic partners, $157,000 has been raised for the ECCA School Project!

The School Sessions

ATTENTION PHOTOGRAPHERS!  This year, The School Sessions is hosting their 3rd annual event to fundraise the remaining $57,500 to complete the school: three new concrete buildings – holding ten classrooms, an office and a library.

The new ECCA School will provide a quiet space for children to learn...changing the lives of these students.

We Need Your Help to Finish!

The outstanding need is:

$57,500.

Would you consider making a donation towards rebuilding ECCA School?

Your generous gift will make a lasting difference for generations to come!

Medical & Dental Personnel Needed!

We need you! We are recruiting a medical team to join us November 2017 in our long-term recovery/rebuilding efforts in Haiti. The team will work alongside our HFI national coordinators and will serve the village of Sous Savanne and surrounding communities. In doing this, we will accomplish two primary objectives:

  • HFI's desire to fill a gap in available healthcare to the impoverished populace  -- in keeping with our commitment to those in our Child Sponsorship Program and vulberable populations.
  • Team members will acquire experience and develop expertise – greatly enhancing their effectiveness in international medical intervention while serving the poorest of the poor in our hemisphere. READ MORE

In 2009, Hope Force International (HFI) staff began dreaming of a way to bring hope to McDowell County, West Virginia — an area ravaged by chronic poverty, high unemployment and historic drug addiction. Now established in the community of War, a Hope Force house welcomes volunteer teams who work in partnership with Warrior Creek Development — a non-profit directed by Hope Force International staff member, Craig Snow.

Warrior Creek Development is a social enterprise / community development organization that provides quality and affordable homes, creates quality jobs, and inspires quality lives for low-wealth families. Through an internship program, individuals gain the training and education necessary to compete in the changing job market of today, while learning a variety of life skills.

Life in McDowell County proves overwhelming to most residents on a daily basis. With drugs, poverty and generational family conflicts creating despair for many, demonstrations of hope create a deep impact. Physical changes to a home can be one of those "hope deposits."

Click Here to read about volunteer opportunities in 2017, as Hope Force International and Warrior Creek Development come alongside two different families in need of compassionate hope.

Haiti

On August 11, 2016, a “no-name” storm struck southern Louisiana – bringing up to 30 inches of torrential rain – three times the total dropped during Hurricane Katrina. Nearly 150,000 homes were flooded, forcing many to face the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives from nothing.

Six months later, most homeowners find themselves still trying to complete or even start repairs; many homes sit abandoned... and close to two million cubic yards of debris have been collected, with much more waiting.

We believe God has indicated that He wants to establish Hope Force International (HFI) in Mexico. His heart is to create a pathway of service — to equip, empower and release followers of Jesus into greater levels of compassionate ministry on behalf of people affected by crisis, disaster and chronic poverty. We’re excited about Hope Force International Mexico and we need your prayers  to help bring this vision to reality.

A well-equipped cadre of Reservists in Mexico will be able to respond nationally, through the Americas and around the world. We will be in a much stronger position to respond to disasters like the 2016 earthquake in Ecuador (a Spanish-speaking nation) and beyond. We recognize this as an amazing opportunity to extend the response capacity of HFI Mexico in our own hemisphere and around the world — and we are excited about what lies ahead together!

HFI disaster responder training is held throughout the year in various locations across the United States and North America. Our vision is to equip and empower willing responders to serve in immediate aftermath and recovery efforts, whenever and wherever disaster strikes. Hope Force Reservist training focuses on preparing an individual for the arduous task of a disaster responder.

The signature Hope Force Reservist program, called an HFI Basic Training Intensive, includes two days and one evening of basic training for service with Hope Force International. This training is required to become a Hope Force "Reservist"— eligible for rapid deployment within 24 to 48 hours of a disaster event.

Our 2017 training schedule is:

  • March 16 - 18, 2017 in Belleville, PA
  • May 4 - 6, 2017 in Batesburg, SC
  • September 21 - 23, 2017 in Franklin, TN
