Dr. Damour brings the reader into a space from which to witness the healthy and unhealthy impacts of pressure on girls. Read Ms. Rowe's review. Presale tickets are on sale at a 50% discount ($10) until June 1.

Senior School families are invited for an evening of interactive fun with technology, delectable treats, fabulous fashion, fantastic films, amazing art, and a traveling play! Come to Fusion, a Creative Arts & Design Technology Showcase on Thursday, June 6 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm featuring student work from this year. CHS Parents’ Auxiliary Backpack Drive
Families are invited to participate in the PA's annual backpack program. Pick-up an empty backpack and fill it with school supplies for a local child in need. Backpacks can be returned at any school office or the Old Residence reception by June 21, and have a final return deadline on the first day of school in September. Returning backpacks earlier enables students to begin their school year well prepared with supplies that otherwise might be out of reach. Backpacks are available for pick-up at:

  • Junior School parent assembly on June 3
  • ECEC parent assembly on June 4
  • Senior School foyer, end of school day, June 3 - 7
  • Year-End BBQ on June 8

Used Uniform Sale - Wednesday, May 29
The CHS PA will hold a Used Uniform Sale on Wednesday, May 29 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Heritage Dining Room in the Old Residence. Doors open at 2:00 pm and clothes tend to sell fast! Payment by student number ONLY, no cash or credit card purchases available. Feel free to donate your own used uniforms and watch for boxes around the school in the coming weeks to collect used uniform. There will be another sale this summer on Wednesday, August 28 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. All proceeds from Used Uniform sales will be donated to KidSafe.

Conversation with Admissions
CHS families are invited join the Admissions Team on Tuesday, May 28 at 8:30 am for an informal Q&A. Richard Cohee, Director, Admissions, and his team will lead a discussion about the admissions process and financial assistance for new students entering Grade 8 and parents will have the opportunity to ask questions.

We know that many extraordinary students and families come to Crofton House through word-of-mouth from our community members. This session will leave parents better informed about the admissions process and financial assistance. Please RSVP by Friday May 24 to attend the session.

Student Leadership Selection in the Senior School
On May 30, Senior School students and teachers will be voting for next year's student leadership team. All candidates will be notified on the evening of Monday, June 3, whether they have been selected for a position. We applaud all candidates for their courage and remind everyone that leadership is not about the title. The announcement where the girls find out which position they have been awarded will take place in assembly on Tuesday, June 4.

Cultural Learning in Bella Coola
Six Senior School students, along with Ms. Warner and Mr. Ripley, travelled to Bella Coola to visit our partner school, Acwsalcta. Engaging in cultural learning with a rural Indigenous community, the students took in two cultural tours: a visit to local totem poles where students learned of the importance of carving and storytelling to the Nuxalk people, and viewing petroglyphs on the Nuxalk territory which tell the story of the longevity of life in the Bella Coola valley. The group also had the opportunity to attend Acwsalcta School's 32nd anniversary potlatch ceremony. This all-day event featured sacred songs and dances performed by students at Acwsalcta School.

Public Speaking at the Collections Convention
Primary students were given an opportunity to practice public speaking skills and share details about a personal collection that holds significant meaning for them. Collections ranged from rocks to hairbands to books, and each student spoke with joy about the significance of their items. Congratulations to all our primary students!

CHS Blood Drive Afternoon
Continuing last year’s success, the School hosted another blood drive at the Canadian Blood Services on Tuesday. Organized by Grade 12 student Sarah L. and Ms. Alavarta, 14 units of blood were collected - five staff members and nine students. Those students were also first-time donors. Canadian Blood Services greatly values our contributions and hopes to encourage youth to donate and develop the concept of becoming lifelong donors.

Final Outdoor Ed. Trip
For the last time, Grade 12 students gathered together for their final outdoor education trip at the Kumsheen Rafting Resort in Lytton, BC. This was an opportunity for students to formally reflect on their time at Crofton House and to acknowledge and celebrate with their peers.

Introducing Design Thinking to JK Students
Junior Kindergarten students experienced their first class in the Ideation Lab. With items such as plastic water bottles and small cardboard boxes on hand, our youngest students were ready for their first design challenge - building a toy that can roll. Students learned how to think creatively, maintain poise as they problem solved, and use a few new tools along the way.
