Fruit Trees

Fruit trees provide an excellent addition to any garden, they are useful for their produce but also brighten gardens up with their diverse colours. Many people assume that fruit trees grow too large for small gardens, however there are a number of dwarf species which are ideal for smaller gardens. If you would like some advice on planting fruit trees in your garden please get in touch.

The importance of having your trees checked regularly

We have been very busy since the storm - lots of clear up work. Here is an example of a tree I was recently called to look at...

I think that people should consider themselves fortunate that insurance companies do not require your trees to be 'MOT'd', because if your car didn't have a valid MOT and you had an accident, your car insurance would not be valid. I ask, should the same apply to your trees?

Under the occupiers liability act, tree owners have a duty to have their trees inspected by an expert at regular intervals. When trees fall down, as has happened alot recently, it is sometimes due to an exisiting problem that has weakened the tree in the first place. Therefore, by inspecting trees regularly, catastophic failure and the damage it can cause is sometimes preventable.

If the tree pictured had been inspected before the storm, the existing weakness due to decay could have been dealt with before any damage was done. If you have any trees that you would like inspecting please get in touch. We are always happy to come and give you some free advice about your trees.

Tree Of The Season - Parrotia Persica (Persian Ironwood)

This tree takes its name from the well-known German horticulturalist, FW Parrot and is a native of Iran. It is a beautiful, small, rounded tree with grey - brown bark which becomes mottled with yellow. This is an excellent tree for Autumn colour, giving a display crimson, purple, red and gold.

Website Updates

As mentioned last time, the website is currently undergoing some changes including the introduction of new content which we feel will be useful to our customers. Our aim is to ultimately create a comprehensive resource of tree information that will help our clients to not only understand what we do but also learn a little more about their trees. Our latest addition is a useful guide to the laws of arboriculture and tree legislations. If you have any suggestions for the website or new content that you would like to see please send us an email.
