CHAMPIONSHIP BUDGET
Your Championship Board of Directors worked very diligently these last few months and has finalized a budget that keeps to a minimum the assessment that we make on your HOA and they then pass on to you the homeowner.
This year the per home monthly assessment is $146.61, which is a
low 2.5% increase over last year's $142.98.
The largest part of this year's increase comes as we prepare to
renew our contract for Security and Privacy. Both the PGA-POA, and
the Championship POA are at the end of a 5-year contract, and we forecast significant increases in
the cost of these services. Fortunately, a decrease in our
Xfinity/Comcast fees will help offset some line-item increases.
As always, your Board is working extremely hard to ensure that all
expenses, which make up your annual assessment, are held to a
bare minimum.
COMCAST PILLARS
Your Board continues to put pressure on Comcast to remove the old copper wire pillars in many of the front yards of our homes. We have been told that with the new fiber optic cable installed throughout Eagleton, those old copper wire pillars can be removed "once the switchover has been done inside each individual home."
Our latest communique from them indicates that 79% of our homes have been converted over to fiber. This is a substantial number, but there still remain many homes to be switched over (a FREE switch over by the way.)
Comcast has now provided the following schedule:
- In early December homeowners will receive a letter from Comcast encouraging them to make the switch
- On January 9, 2022, non-converted homeowners will receive a 30-day shutdown notice, indicating that they will lose service if they do not switch over within the next 30 days
- On February 9, 2022, Comcast will shut down coax (copper wire) service within all of Eagleton
- On February 13, 2022, they will begin the work to remove all the coax pillars from within Eagleton. This work is estimated to take two weeks.
So, if you are one of those homeowners who has NOT made the switchover from copper cable to fiber optic, PLEASE contact Comcast as soon as possible so that you do not lose service in the early part of the new year. The number to call Comcast is (800) 934-6489.
GATEHOUSE RENOVATIONS
As mentioned in earlier newsletters, we are in the process of
renovating the interior or our Eagleton gatehouse at Championship
Drive and Ryder Cup Boulevard.
The building was built around 1989 and while we have added lots of
technology over the years, the basic interior was never
updated and was becoming quite tired, old and in need of update.
We began those updates at the end of October and much of the work
has now been completed. Unfortunately, due in part to the global
supply chain problems, the new hurricane-proof windows and doors
have yet to arrive. We anticipate them coming in very shortly and we are very thankful that 2021 did not produce any violent storms that may have tested the structure.
As soon as the renovations are complete, we will invite homeowners
to stop by, visit the guard and have a look our new, modern,
up-to-date facility.
HOLIDAY LIGHTS
As a brief experiment, we have put a touch of color into the holiday lights at the main entry to Eagleton!
Homeowners and their visitors will notice a splash of green on some of the landscaping in front of the two Eagleton monuments and a bit of green on one of the palm trees on the first island which we affectionately refer to as "flag island."
We are curious to know what you and your visitors think. Do you like the addition of a bit of color? More green? Less green? All white? A touch of some red? Let us know by sending an email to holidaylights@championship-poa.com
We look forward to hearing from you... and to your thoughts and opinions.
ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTIONS
Please be sure to mark the date March 16 on your 2022 calendar. This is the date of the Championship POA's Annual Meeting.
The Annual Meeting is an important gathering time for all
homeowners within Eagleton - (General Pointe, Eagleton Lakes,
Eagleton Estates, Eagleton Cove, The Masters, Diamond Head,
Monterey Pointe, Pinehurst, and Grand Cay). It's at this meeting
that homeowners elect members of the Board of Directors who will
represent your future interests in Eagleton.
This coming year's meeting is particularly important as in 2021 we made
changes that effect the tenure of Board Members. Up until now, all
Board Members were elected annually for a one-year term. Starting
in 2022 Board Members will be elected for a staggard two-year
term. This is an important change as it ensures continuity in the
Board, year after year.
So again, please
mark the date of March 16th in your 2022 calendar.
More information will come early in the new year.
