12 Actions for Palestine
Film links to watch and share

Thank you so much for attending one of our recent Rebuilding Hope events with Marwan Farajeh and for signing up to receive further information about how you can help the people of Palestine.

We really hope that you found the event interesting and inspiring – we're looking forward to keeping you up to date with our work in Palestine.

Unless you've indicated otherwise, we will add you to our e-newsletter mailing list which will keep you informed about our projects in Israel and Palestine, as well as our other areas of work.

In the meantime, we wanted to write to you with some important actions as to how you can get involved and make a real difference to the people of Palestine. We've also included links to the films that were used during the tour which we hope you'll find useful.

12 Actions for Palestine

1. Visit & tell your story
The best way to really understand what's going on on the ground in Palestine is to visit. We have various trips planned for 2015 – here are the details:

– Palestine Marathon in March

There aren't 26 miles without a checkpoint in the West Bank which is why the Palestine Marathon is called the Right to Movement Marathon. Join Team Amos and run either a 10k, half or full Bethlehem Marathon. Please contact Katie for more information and to book your place.

 – Home re-build in April

There's a Home re-building trip in April when we'll be joining with local volunteers to rebuild a family's home just outside Bethlehem, as an act of creative and non-violent resistance to the occupation.

– Alternative Pilgrimage in May

There's an alternative pilgrimage in May. See the sites of the past and get to grips with the issues of today. Spend time with local communities and local peacemakers.

If you can't make one of our trips but would still like to visit, do make sure that you go with a group who will introduce you to local Palestinians.

2. Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions

We're asking people to support the Sainsbury’s campaign following the recent success with John Lewis and Sodastream. For more information, please visit our website or visit the Boycott, Investment and Sanctions website for further details.

3. Become a committed giver
Please help us raise money for the work of the Holy Land Trust or our other partners in Palestine. Visit our website for more information.

4. Join us online
Please follow us on Twitter and if you use Facebook, please search for Amos Trust to see our Page to keep in touch with news, action, demonstrations and the work of our partners.

5. Support the Call for an Arms Embargo
The Campaign Against Arms Trade is calling for a two-way arms embargo on Israel. There's lots of great information on their website about why this is so important.

6. Use the 2014 Bethlehem Pack
The 2014 Bethlehem Pack is a great resource for you to use in your Community or church this advent and Christmas. It's currently being updated and will be available to download in early November. In the meantime, here's a link to the 2013 version.

7. Host a film screening of 'Open Bethlehem'
Coming to a cinema near you in December and then released on DVD in March 2015, 'Open Bethlehem' is a big film about a small town. We'd like as many people to see it as possible.

If you're able to host a screening please visit the Open Bethlehem website for further information. In the meantime you can watch the trailer for the film here and read more about the project here

8. Support the Emergency appeal for Gaza
Thank you so much for the very generous support that has so far raised over £25,000. Please click here for more information about the appeal and to donate.

9. Invite people to our Advent Carol Service
Tuesday 2nd December is the date to put in your diaries. Our Advent Carol Service which takes place at St James, Piccadilly in London will feature Holy Land Trust Executive Director, Sami Awad.

If you would like to promote the event in your community or church, please contact Jill who will be happy to send you some flyers.

10. Organise a fundraising or awareness raising event
Look at our recent 65@65 Campaign for creative ideas and contact Katie Hagley, our Community Engagement Manager for support. You might like to show one or two of the films from the tour at your event (please see below) – or indeed at other events that are already taking place.

11. Become a member of the Kairos community

Kairos Britain is a network of individuals, organisations and faith communities formed in response to the Kairos Palestine document, ‘A Moment of Truth’.

Joining the Kairos Community is a great way for you, your community, church or home group to demonstrate what level of support there is for a just peace for Palestine.

12. Christmas cards that make you think
Order a set of Amos Christmas to send and share. The image on the front of the cards is of a lamp that hangs in the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem. Please visit our website for more details.
