The second issue of 2025 features a special forum entitled 'Fiscal space, investment and inflation: towards a new policy architecture for the Eurozone', alongside the proceedings from the 2024 Forum for Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policies (FMM) conference, which focused on 'Progressive perspectives in times of polycrisis'. Emerging from an EJEEP roundtable discussion, the special forum reveals that European policy-making still lacks a coherent and comprehensive policy architecture, with insufficient coordination between fiscal, monetary, income and industrial policies. Furthermore, it is evident that the Stability and Growth Pact does not encourage the necessary investments in new technologies for ecological transition and the social flanking of structural change; rather, is likely to continue to hinder them in the future. The special issue on 'Progressive Perspectives in Times of Polycrisis' compiles contributions to the plenary sessions of the 28th FMM conference. These contributions address the global polycrisis, which encompasses climate change, geopolitical conflicts, economic insecurities, and growing social and political polarisations. The contributions to this special issue explore how these crises have emerged, providing insights into their origins and the broader systemic context. We hope you enjoy reading this issue.
