A message from our General Manager

Angela Xygalas, General Manager, New Zealand Government Property

It’s an exciting time for the team in the Government Property Group and I’m delighted to lead us into this next phase. The shift of property into a separate branch has given us an excellent platform to reset our function and position us to best meet Government’s expectations: community focus, collaboration, valuing people and public value.

We’re keen to continue our work across the public sector, with a particular focus on bringing people, place, and technology together to enable greater collaboration across agencies, modernise the way we work, and bring services to the people we are here to serve. We see property is a key enabler to demonstrating how the public service can maximise its potential by working collaboratively to make a significant contribution to a truly unified public service.

We look forward to engaging with you and sharing more on our initiatives as we move forward.

Government workplace strategy

On 9 June, we let agencies know about available opportunities for the proposed establishment of four Government hubs. We are still collecting the final returns, and have started to consolidate these.

Thanks to everyone for the timely returns, acknowledging that this clashed with ANZAC Day and school holidays.

Government office branding, wayfinding and signage guidelines

Thank you to those agencies who have provided feedback on this draft guideline.

We are working towards finalising the guide and expect to issue a final draft for consideration soon.

Implementing NABERSNZ

It was great to see so many of you at the All-of-Government Sustainability Hui in February. If you missed it, our own Greg Eunson (Government Property Group) and Drew Roberts (EECA) provided a general overview on how NABERSNZ will be implemented for government office accommodation. There is a lot of NABERSNZ information on our website.

Energy efficient buildings

If your office building requires a NABERSNZ rating over the next five years, make sure to get in contact with your Property Portfolio Specialists, if you haven’t done so already.

New joining process to the office furniture contract

We have simplified the agency sign-up process to the office furniture contract. A single ‘Form of Accession’ replaces the five ‘Joining Addendums’ which agencies and suppliers were previously required to complete. Eligible agencies can now join the office furniture contract by completing only one online form.

Government Property Portal (GPP) updates

Property portal - a property management system for managing your property portfolio efficiently.

At the end of January, we relaunched GPP after it underwent significant work to make this pivotal platform more user-friendly. The portal is now more agile and responsive, with increased functionality. It will allow us to make continued improvements more quickly and expand the portal to add further modules in the future.

The upgraded version will:

  • allow you to use and receive real-time data
  • deliver more interactive and responsive analytics, and
  • offer a better user experience.

We have also put together videos and guidance to assist you with the updated GPP on our website.

In the next enhancement, the reporting functionality will be updated with new and improved reports; and later in the year, we will to upgrade to the latest version of the tool. We’ll keep you updated as we progress.

If you have any questions about the GPP, please email the team.
