The "If Not Dieting" approach to weight management
I recently completed the health practitioner accreditation in the "If Not Dieting" approach to achieving and maintaining your healthy and comfortable weight. This approach was developed by Dr Rick Kausman, author of the book "If Not Dieting, then what?" and has been used with great success for the best part of 20 years.
As many of you who have tried different diets over the years may have discovered, they either don't work or they work in the short term but you can't maintain them and you end up putting the weight back on (and more). The "If Not Dieting" approach recognises that there are many pieces to the weight management puzzle. It's not about nutrition and calories. Most of us have a good knowledge of what constitutes healthy food so there must be more to it than that, right? Using the tools and knowledge gained through this approach, you can gain and maintain a positive relationship with food.
Combining this approach with a naturopathic assessment of your health issues which can include looking at hormone imbalances, the role of stress and identifying any nutritional or digestive issues is a great way to achieve your most healthy and comfortable weight and maintain it in the long term.
To celebrate my completion of this training I am offering a free mini-deck of 8 wallet-sized "If Not Dieting" empowerment cards to the first 5 people to make an appointment with me to commence learning about a new way of looking at your relationship with food. There are no "diets", no programmes, no "regimes" and no pressure. It's simple and practical. Call me on 9620 9503 and mention this offer.
The Quick/Acute Consultation....
Many of you use naturopathy for the treatment of health issues that have been troubling you for quite a while. These tend to be chronic or long term problems that can be complex and sometimes take a variety of treatments and a number of consultations over a period of time to resolve.
But don't forget that herbal and nutritional medicines are also wonderful for treating those short term infections we all succumb to from time to time. Things like colds, flu, gastro, urinary tract infections, bronchitis and the like. In these situations, you don't want to go through a detailed consultation. So, the "quick/acute consultation" is ideal.
I can quickly assess your current symptoms, take into account any current medication and prescribe herbal or nutritional supplements to resolve your problem. It takes about 15 minutes and you are on your way. I can also provide a medical certificate for time off (check that your employer will accept certificates from naturopaths).
So if bugs strike, consider your naturopath as a viable option to get you back on track. Call 9620 9503 and mention you want a Quick Consultation. I will usually be able to fit you in on the same day.
Introducing Gillian, our dedicated Homoeopath
Gillian Lee is a degree qualified Homoeopath, registered with both the Australian Registrar of Homoeopaths and the Australian Homoeopathic Association. She is now practicing at LaVida Health on Fridays.
Homoeopathy is a branch of holistic medicine using highly diluted micro-doses of therapeutic material in each prescription to stimulate a self-healing response of our Life Force (also known as Chi or Prana).
Due to the gentle nature of homoeopathic medicines, homoeopathy is suitable for everyone, including babies, the elderly, those with multiple allergies, the pregnant and even pets. Treatments are highly individualised to very closely correspond with the individual's presenting symptoms. There are literally hundreds of remedies to choose from so it takes a skilled homoeopath to select the best remedy for you.
Homoeopathy can be used to address childhood conditions, circulatory disorders, chronic muscular and nerve pains, digestive disorders, skin problems, emotional disorders and much more.
If you like the sound of homoeopathic treatment or if you wonder if it might be right for you, why don't you give Gillian a call directly on 040 327 3388. Health fund rebates may apply depending on your level of cover.
