iStart Australia

Hi there,

AI of every flavour appears in the latest Gartner Hype Cycle for Emerging Tech: Composite, generative, responsible, embedded, not to mention AI augmented development and AI-augmented design. It is a veritable AI wonderland.

But it’s explainable AI that caught our eye here at iStart.

At a time when AI is having such an impact on society, there’s a growing expectation that how algorithms arrive at their decisions should be explainable – albeit without necessarily revealing the proprietary technical details.

Cracking open the black box of AI has never been more important – in fact, it’s well on the way to being a ‘must have’, but it’s a new field, without a universal definition – yet. Expect that to change though.

Oh, and if AI isn’t your thing, the Hype Cycle also has plenty of other technologies, including several that truly are a sign of the (pandemic) times we’re living in…
