Kia ora to all .kiwis
Created for Kiwis by Kiwis, a .kiwi domain name doesn’t just say where you are, it proudly proclaims who you are. That's because the word
Kiwi has come to represent our spirit and embody our values. Today it's synonymous with innovation, imagination, originality, integrity,
pride and determination – the stuff that makes us New Zealanders unique.
To all applicants and everyone else who has applied for a .kiwi domain, we'd like to say thank you. Thank you for sharing our vision.
And thank you for choosing to express the unique Kiwiness of who you are and what you do with such an appropriate domain name.
We're excited to see what you'll accomplish next and hope you'll launch your new .kiwi URL soon so you can represent us all with pride.
Our roll-out is on a roll
We've moved out of our Sunrise phase and entered the Landrush stage of our roll-out. Landrush is the 'early bird' phase of .kiwi's market
launch and runs from 18 March until 30 April.
The structuring of our Landrush offering gives all New Zealanders an equal opportunity to purchase the .kiwi domain name they want. To ensure
the fairness of this process, the Landrush phase is not on a first-come, first-served basis. Landrush is application based, so if yours is the
only application for a name then you get that domain. When there are multiple applications for the same name, the applicants are sent to a private
auction. The auction winner gets the domain name, everyone else gets a full refund, so it's risk free.
There are no restrictions – anyone can apply for an available .kiwi domain name during Landrush. And there are no limits on how many domains you can apply for.
There is a $65 upfront application fee. Normal annual registration fees apply after the domain name has been awarded.

Our roll-out is gaining quite a roll call
The .kiwi roll-out has already attracted a veritable who's who of Kiwi companies, brands, sports stars and teams, celebrities and organisations.
Approximately one thousand domain names have already been sold during the pre-registration period and through early reservation programmes to trademark holders.
Every day more and more sought after .kiwi domain names are being applied for during the Landrush phase.
So for people wanting a specific domain name, now is the best time to get in and secure it. After that date, .kiwi will be open for businesses and individuals to
register any .kiwi domain names on a first-come, first-served basis.
Some .kiwi domain names bought during the pre-registration period have gone or are in the process of going live. Amongst them are iconic local brands like
www.lotto.kiwi,
plus Kiwi sports stars including Bevan Docherty’s www.docherty.kiwi.
.kiwi's global reach
Kea New Zealand is a global network of New Zealand expats.
They've partnered with Dot Kiwi to spread the word and help raise our global awareness.
Craig Donaldson, Kea New Zealand’s CEO had this to say: “We’ve got hundreds of thousands of members around the globe, many who want a closer link to
their Kiwi identity. New .kiwi domain names will be of keen interest to expats looking for ways to stay connected with home and for local businesses
looking for new ways to communicate online.”
Early feedback indicates there's significant demand and excitement building around the .kiwi domain name roll-out. Prior to the Landrush phase, we had received
registrations of interest for over 3,000 domains, not including large numbers of pre-registrations received from domain name resellers around the world.
Kiwi organisations worldwide who are wanting to establish an online connection that shows their national identity are applying for their .kiwi domains. We've had
requests coming in from the four corners of the globe – from Canada, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, the United States, Malaysia, China and from all over Europe.
Naturally, interest from within New Zealand has been the most prolific. Early reservations made during the pre-registration period include Kiwi organisations such
as Lotto New Zealand, New Zealand Rugby League and Triathlon New Zealand.
