Deadline approaching for applications

As part of the 2020 REOI, CIF is offering funds for another year of four-season waste composition studies in cooperation with Stewardship Ontario. Preference will be given to communities where studies can be used to facilitate strategic data collection and which have not been offered waste composition studies to date.

Applications to participate in the
CIF/SO Waste Composition Studies
must be submitted by June 26, 2020.

Continuous intake for other REOI applications

All other applications for the 2020 REOI may be submitted at anytime. However, we encourage you to act soon, as decisions are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Since the CIF REOI was released, applications representing $600,000 have been received. With only $1.25 million available, those planning to apply should do so as soon as possible.

CIF has already received submissions that will assist Ontario municipalities to:

  • identify preferred IPR transition timing, considering costs and operations
  • improve collection performance by reducing material losses and decreasing moisture
  • advance curbside evaluation and reduce contamination
  • analyze waste composition data to benchmark program performance and prepare for the future

The priority for 2020 is new initiatives that demonstrate collective benefit to municipalities across the Province. For inspiration, check out our funded projects page and send ideas to Laurie Westaway.
