Our New Name...

Since our founding ten years ago as a national organization, we have grown. Our name, City at Peace, is changing to reflect this evolution of our goals and purpose.

As we undertook the process of choosing a new name, we listened to many of our youth participants and alumni. While a brief story told by one of our alumni is not the only story we heard, it captures the essence of our new name.

“When I joined City at Peace, I had a 1.7 grade point average, I didn’t care about anything, I didn’t think about going to college, and I had no idea what my future was going to be. Now here I am, three years later, and I have a 3.2 grade point average, I’m going to the college of my dreams, and I know what my responsibility is to other people and the world around me.

The thing about it is, City at Peace didn’t do that for me. I had to do the work myself. But City at Peace made it possible.”

This is our work. And this is our new name.
