Meet Mrs. Chan, one of CPC's 80,000 community members!
Mrs. Chan received essential support from Asian Family Services (AFS), which will be located at CPC One in a few short months.
Last year, Mrs. Chan* unexpectedly became the sole caretaker for her two grandchildren. Responsible for a household of three on a single part-time income and having limited English proficiency, Mrs. Chan was overwhelmed and unsure how she would manage.
After connecting with CPC's Asian Family Services (AFS), Mrs. Chan received emergency money, referrals to community food pantries, and expedited Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to feed her grandchildren and herself. Soon after, she found childcare that allowed her to find stable, full-time work.
Mrs. Chan is happy she can provide for her grandchildren. She shares, "Our life is going back to normal because of what CPC was able to do. I am really positive about the future. I have so much appreciation for CPC and their guidance. They saved my family."
This year, families that are in need of AFS can receive support at our new permanent Manhattan home, CPC One.

About CPC's Asian Family Services (AFS)
CPC's Asian Family Services (AFS) is a child abuse and neglect prevention program that has safely kept children and their families together for over 30 years.
In 2023, 106 families received counseling, training, case management, and referrals to community services.
In a few short months, CPC One will open. Our first-ever permanent Manhattan home will house our Manhattan Community Center across three floors, include over 200 units of affordable housing, and serve as headquarters for our 50+ programs across New York City.
