Many of the shops are supporting chosen charities as well as offering their customers something special on the day. Moss Studio-Store are selling limited edition ceramic ‘Altrincham Angels’. £2 from every one of these beautiful Christmas Tree decorations sold will go to Centrepoint, the charity supporting homeless people aged 16-25 years. Violet Loves Vintage and Nicola Pass Photography are acting as a drop-off point for donations for ladies’ gift bags for Reach Out Women’s Refuge. Randalls Gifts are collecting toys for the Salvation Army. Children’s clothing boutique, Bumkins are collecting for Cash for Kids Mission Christmas and people are encouraged to drop-off new unwrapped gifts. ‘Love Moss Lane’ has been supported by Altrincham BID
🎅🏻 Thousands come to Altrincham for the Christmas Lights Switch-onAltrincham's Christmas Lights Switch-on event took place on Saturday 16th November. Community & School Choirs took to the stage in Stamford Square throughout the afternoon, followed by the Hits Radio Christmas Show presented by Mike Toolan with Lemar, CBeebies' Katy Ashworth and the Little Belters Choir. Two relay screen were installed to allow a maximum number of people to view the show. The Christmas lights and the Christmas Lights switch-on show are funded by the businesses in Altrincham and organised by the BID. 🎅🏻Festive Favourite Window CompetitionThis year’s competition to find Altrincham’s ‘Festive Favourite’ business or shop front had over 30 entries. Stephen and Claire Hodder of Hodder+Partners, the award-winning architectural practice, selected Sew Creative and Tile By Tile as joint overall winners, as both fulfilled all the judging criteria and impressed them with their outstanding entries. Very close runners-up were Moss Studio-Store and Ferrious. The BID also ran a 'People's Choice' competition in conjunction with Altrincham Today on Facebook. Over 2,000 people voted in the competition with Bumkins being crowned 'People's Choice' winner. 🎅🏻Altrincham's Lantern ParadeThe Parade took place on 7th December. Hundreds of members of the community were involved either performing on the main stage or in the parade. The Twelve Days of Christmas was the theme - with large lantern puppets and students from local music, dance and gymnastics groups taking the parts within the rhyme as well as school groups and the community who had all taken part in lantern-making workshops. The stage performances during the day included community and school choirs, dance troupes, bands and soloists. Also on the day, a 'Battle of the Gyms' competition took place in Stamford Square with OrangeTheory and Trafford Leisure racing on rowing machines. The parade culminated with a Christmas singalong with The Music Place Band. The Lantern Parade, Community Stage, Workshops and Battle of the Gyms were all funded by the businesses in Altrincham and organised by Altrincham BID. BID Business EventOn Tuesday 3rd December over eighty representatives from Altrincham’s professional services sector came together for a business event organised by Altrincham BID with guest speaker Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester. Altrincham BID has over 125 contributing professional services businesses in the town centre alone, at least 15 of which are national or international head offices. They came together at Altrincham’s Cresta Court Hotel to hear Andy Burnham talk about his role supporting businesses in Greater Manchester, with a particular focus on the future of town centres. Town Centre ParkingWe would like to remind businesses about the alternative parking available whilst Regent Road Car Park is closed including the Goose Green Car Park with 390 spaces and the Stamford Quarter Car Park with 620 spaces.
Altrincham BID AGMAltrincham BID's AGM will take place on Monday 27th January, at 7 pm at the Cresta Court Hotel. All BID businesses are welcome to come along to the meeting which will reflect on BID activity throughout 2019. |
