Bordered by long fine-sand beaches and home to breathtaking landscapes, the region of Côte-Nord is a world-renowned whale-watching destination. Starting from Tadoussac, which is an ideal departure point for a whale-watching excursion, follow the St. Lawrence along Route 138, also known as the Whale Route (Route des Baleines). As you drive, take the time to stop and visit unique attractions along the way, including the Cap-de-Bon-Désir Interpretation and Observation Centre and the Marine Environment Discovery Centre. With a starting point not far from Québec City, the Route du Fleuve is a 78-km (48-mi.) scenic drive along the St. Lawrence in the Charlevoix region that runs from Baie-Saint-Paul to La Malbaie and includes L’Isle-aux-Coudres. As you drive between the sea and the mountains, you will want to stop, breathe in the fresh air, stretch your legs and awaken all your senses.
