We learned so much about where we live this week. We discussed that Arkansas is part of the USA; we decided that this is a great place to live!  We gave thanks to God for allowing us to live here!

Next week, we will introduce the last short vowel sound - /Ee/.  It is the hardest one to hear, especially with some of our southern accents.  (How do you say hen and pen?)  Please help your child practice listening for the short vowel /e/ in the middle of words, such as wet, red, web, nest, or leg.

Valentine class parties are next Wednesday.  Parties will begin at 2:30.  Children do not need to bring a box for Valentines.  We will decorate bags in class.  Please send your child’s Valentine cards on Tuesday, February 13. We appreciate the support from our homeroom moms and our wonderful parents!

• Bible Verse: Proverbs 26:26 “My child, give Me your heart.” We will practice this verse for two weeks. Practice at home too!
• Bible Story: Jesus Loves the Little Children
• Reading/Phonemic Awareness: We will introduce the short vowel “Ee” and the sound /e/ makes. (think egg)
• Math: #11
• Unit: God is Love/Valentines
• Show and Tell: Each child should draw a picture of something he/she loves.  Bring this picture for show and tell!

Just recently, the state department of education allowed school districts to adopt a new snow day policy that prevents a school from extending the school year. Instead of making up snow days at the end of the year, schools can now send students work via folders, email, or through websites like Google Classroom. Last week, in your child’s folder, you received a packet of work labeled “SNOW DAY WORK”.  Please keep the packet in a handy place just in case we have a snow day.
