Hurricane Matthew Update: November 7, 2016

It may no longer be in the news headlines, but those who were caught in the path of Hurricane Matthew are still reeling from the life-changing impact it has brought to so many – both in the U.S. and in Haiti.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each one who has partnered with us in our response to Lumberton & Fayettville, NC  as well as the relief and recovery efforts in Haiti. Because of you, the lives of many have been impacted through compassionate action!

In the videos below, you will hear testimonies from North Carolina and Haiti. The opportuniy to be partnered with so many of you as we bring hope into the midst of crisis is one we do not take for granted.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Grateful for the privilege,

Jack Minton

Six Hope Force International (HFI) staff and Reservists formed the initial response team to Hurricane Matthew's aftermath in North Carolina on October 10th. Many more HFI Reservists and volunteers joined soon afterwards from across the U.S.

Through a relational network, a connection was made with city officials in hard-hit Lumberton, NC, through U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre.  Watch this compelling video of the city official charged with the relief and recovery efforts of Lumberton – Linda Oxendine – as she personally thanks Hope Force International for coming alongside her city:

Haiti

We are deeply grateful for each one who has prayed and given financial resources for our adopted village of Sous Savanne, Haiti. Knowing that "our" village was a beacon of light in the community when Hurricane Matthew passed through has been such an encouragement to our hearts.  We couldn't be more proud of our Haitian friends who have been recipients of our HFI Houses of Hope initiative, as they opened up their homes to those in need of shelter during the storm. Not one House of Hope was lost during the onslaught of Hurricane Matthew!

We'd also like to extend our deep gratitude and thanks to Grace Chapel in Franklin, TN for their help in sending a team of their "Ironmen" to aid in rebuilding some of the local shelters that were lost.

May God bless each one who gave, prayed and came alongside  making of world of difference!
