Welcome to the March issue and thanks for taking the time to attend our second gathering at Ina Grafton Gage. Last month's gathering had a mixed bag of weather events and it was cancelled.
This month we had two presenters, Kerrie Pickering from Pro Health Navigators and Cindy Forster MPP Welland.
Kerrie's presentation was " How to make the most of your health care experience " with the following benefits of patient centered care;

Request that all providers check patient ID band before giving medication, procedure or patient interaction

Cindy Forster's presentation was " Don't increase drug costs "
The facts regarding the changes that the Ontario government wants to vote in the legislature by the end of March 2016:

The annual deductible under the Ontario Drug Benefit program for most seniors will be increased from $100 to $170
-
Co-pays will increase from $6.11 to $7.11
-
Ontario seniors need an average of 8 prescriptions each year
-
1 in 3 Ontario seniors need 10 or more prescriptions each year.
That means the average senior on a fixed income will pay more each month to get the medications they need to stay healthy.
