Resources Ready is set to expand to further locations across Australia in May, we are currently on the lookout for companies based in Darwin, Townsvillie and the Pilbara to take part. MinEx CRC funding approvedAssistant Minister for Science, Jobs and Innovation Zed Seselja and Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Matt Canavan have announced $50 million of Australian Government funding for research aimed at better equipping the mining and resources sector to manage future challenges. The MinEx CRC will create new mining opportunities, provide new opportunities for mineral discovery in the resources sector and grow the Mining Equipment, Technology and Services sector. Tailem Bend renewable energy farm to increase capacityEquis Energy's $200 million Tailem Bend Solar Farm is set to double its size to meet South Australia’s energy demand and aims to power up 82,600 homes by early next year. Equis has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Snowy Hydro Limited (Snowy Hydro) under which Snowy Hydro will purchase 100% of the power from Tailem Solar for at least 22 years. OZ Minerals’ Power StrategyOZ Minerals has released its power strategy to achieve reliable, secure and affordable power for its current and future assets. OZ has partnered with Electranet to build a high voltage power line, which will be connected to a solar generation project being built by SolarReserve, further renewable energy initiatives and battery storage are also being investigated. Alinta Energy gas-fired power station proposal approvedThe State Government has advised Alinta Energy that its proposal for the development and construction of a gas-fired power station (of up to 300 MW) in Reeves Plains, South Australia has been approved. View Proposal

OZ Minerals announces takeover offer for Avanco ResourcesOZ Minerals has announced that it intends to acquire Avanco Resources Limited, a Brazilian-focused copper/gold mining company. The acquisition of Avanco would immediately add to OZ Minerals' copper production profile and provides expansion options in the highly prospective Carajás copper province and Gurupi gold belt in Brazil. Industry Skills RequirementsThe Department of State Development is seeking industry feedback regarding skills shortages or surpluses in order to inform the main list of skilled occupations available for State-nominated skilled migration in 2018-19.
