What's Happening This Week

While you are putting the hot dogs on the grill and lighting the sparklers, take a moment to remember what tomorrow is all about.

Freedom.

Tomorrow we celebrate our freedom and all the heroes that fought for it. We wish you a happy and safe 4th of July!

FSLSO will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in observance of Independence Day.

We are conducting Lunch and Learn sessions in South Florida July 16-20. There is one more spot available. If you would like to sign up contact outreach@fslso.com.

Lunch and Learn is our tailor-made training program designed just for you and your staff. The FSLSO team will come to your office and provide a hands-on, customized training session that addresses the specific needs of your agency.

Gift Law Changes

Prior law restricted advertising gifts to a maximum value of $25 and limited the purpose to only merchandise for advertising purposes.

As of July 1 these advertising restrictions have been significantly loosened. New rules are as follows.

  • Removes of the limitation that the gifts be for advertising purposes;

  • Increases the maximum allowed value from $25 to $100 per insured or prospective insured;

  • Limits the total value given to any insured or prospective insured to $100 in one calendar year;
  • Authorizes charitable contributions in the name of insureds or prospective insureds, up to the specified limit; and

  • Allows gifting of goods, wares, store gift cards, gift certificates, event tickets, anti-fraud or loss mitigation services, and other items, in addition to merchandise.

Further, for title insurance agents, agencies, and insurers, the new law maintains the $25 gift limit.

Due Date

Tuesday, August 14 is the final due date for:

  • Second quarter affidavits, and
  • Second quarter invoice payments.

All items can be filed and paid in your SLIP account.

Invoices and billing reports are available in SLIP. ACH payments can be made by clicking on Pay Invoices from the Invoicing tab in your SLIP account.
