Applications received for Managed Spectrum Park licences

Applications have been received for radio spectrum licences in the 2.5/2.6 GHz Managed Spectrum Park band.  Potential uses for this spectrum include wireless broadband services.

Since November 2010, parties interested in utilising this spectrum have been able to apply for access on a first-come, first-served basis, but with a requirement that sharing processes are negotiated by applicants.

The Crown Spectrum Asset Manager has received applications from:

  • Amuri Net Limited, for licences with coverage in parts of the Waimakariri District TLA area.
  • Enhanced Solutions Limited, for licences with coverage in parts of the Manawatu District, Rangitikei District, and Whanganui District TLA’s.

Position paper on new spectrum band for RPAS

RSM in conjunction with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have developed a position paper on opening up a new band of spectrum at 5 GHz, for remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) command and control.

This paper looks at potential band plans, as well as access regimes for RPAS that are flown under the CAA’s RPAS rules.

CAA’s RPAS rules

You can read the paper and provide feedback at the CAA’s website. The deadline for feedback is October 16 2020.
