May 2020 | Michigan Flooding

May 26, 2020

Dear HFI Reservist,

The news of massive flooding in Michigan has been suppressed by the ongoing struggle of navigating the troubling affects of Covid-19. Due to the unprecedented nature of this virus, the goal posts of recovery and the process of achieving a return to normalcy are ever shifting

Hope Force International [HFI] is seeking to mount an effective response to massive flooding in the state of Michigan. We’ve done due diligence in reaching out to local leaders in the impacted areas for firsthand intelligence. We’ve learned that there have been very few Covid-19 cases in the area.

We’ve also sought input from a leading commercial expert who has been employing and deploying people into disaster areas throughout the Covid-19 outbreak. We’re encouraged to have our response protocols confirmed as being sound. We were exhorted to continue to remind volunteers to wash their hands and to not touch their faces — and to wear masks when working indoors or in commonly shared areas; all of which we do and will underscore with volunteers.

So Here's the Situation:

  • Thousands of people in Michigan have lost their homes to massive flooding.
  • Hope Force International is considering a response and as a Reservist, we need you to please pray about joining us. We ask that you pray for direction, process with family and friends and then make a faith-based decision.
  • Whether you come to Michigan in faith — or stay home in faith — God will honor your decision, largely because your heart is set to please Him.

HFI Disaster Services Director, Joey Stoltzfus, will be conducting an assessment and working to secure a base of operations. We anticipate a need for manpower beginning this weekend or Monday, June 1st at the latest.

HFI RESERVISTS:  Please let us know of your potential availability dates as soon as possible by emailingdeployment@hopeforce.org. Thank You!
