Following discussions at a recent meeting of the East South East (ESE) Revenue/Institute Branch on the roll out of the “contractors’ project” in the ESE Region, Revenue has now confirmed that audit letters will start to issue in the ESE region during the latter half of this week.
Taxpayers who choose to make an unprompted disclosure in advance of receiving an audit letter, will be able to avail of a 60 day period to prepare a disclosure, beginning from the date on which the notice of intention to make a disclosure is provided to Revenue. Where an audit letter has been received, if an extra 60 days is required to prepare a prompted disclosure, a notice of intention to make a disclosure must be given within 14 days of the day of issue of the audit notification.
