PH 1st Grade eNews

This is the correct email for this week.  Please disregard the previous email. 

• Bible - Saul’s Conversion; Early Christians serving others
• Verse - Colossians 1:10, “…so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
• Spelling -“oy” and “oi” (boy, joy, toy; coin, join, foil)
• Reading & Phonics - Read “Fly Guy”; Compare and contrast
• Grammar & Writing - complete sentences; write Squiggle stories; friendly letter; practice paragraph writing; fix sentences
• Math - 13 subtraction family; add 3 digits; review
• Science/Social Studies - Recycling

• Starting May 9th we will have a 10-day countdown filled with a fun activity each day. A schedule of these activities will be sent home in blue folders, but I will also post here on the days your child needs to bring something from home.
• May 1-5 - Teacher Appreciation Week; Book Fair Week
• May 22 - Picnic Lunch and Field Day; more info to come; Last full day
• May 23 - Awards assembly at 8:30 at Cross Church; dismissal afterwards; last day of school; no extended care

Countdown Fun:

• May 9 - Come ready to tell a joke at school
• May 11 - Bring a towel and a book so we can read outside (weather permitting)
