The Stillbirth Foundation Australia wishes to extend a very warm and Happy New Year to you all as we look forward to an amazing year for our charity.

This year, we have some new events in the pipeline, including our first interstate event, and we know you'll be as excited as we are to get involved. So stay tuned for our regular updates and, if you haven't already, join us on Facebook for at the minute news!

Caring for Stillparents

In addition to funding research that investigates the causes of stillbirth, the Stillbirth Foundation Australia is pleased to have committed $50,000 to the University of Adelaide to develop best practice guidelines for the provision of effective and appropriate care for families who have experienced stillbirth.

At the time of stillbirth, it is important to ensure that families receive care that has been shown to improve their psychological wellbeing. The development of best practice guidelines will therefore provide effective, meaningful and appropriate care strategies and recommendations that will provide doctors and nurses with guidance about how to best support and care for families affected by stillbirth. The developed guidance will be distributed electronically to relevant healthcare organisations and prominent stakeholder groups across Australia.

An initial payment of $25,000 has been provided to commence this project and we would love you to donate now to support this study and the other vital research studies we commit to funding each year.

Sydney City2Surf - August 10, 2014

In the past two years of City2Surfing, our amazing Team Stillbirths have raised $185,000 for the Stillbirth Foundation Australia's vital research studies. We’re thrilled to be a part of this iconic event again in 2014.

The City2Surf has been an incredibly cathartic experience for our past participants as they ran with the memory of their babies and their babies’ names emblazoned on their running singlets, right above their hearts.

Conversations surrounding stillbirth are still regarded as taboo and what has resulted is a resounding silence in acknowledging the high number of beautiful babies born sleeping every year. Too many people are still unaware of how prolific the number is of babies stillborn yearly in Australia and that’s why, through their participation, our supporters have been so successful in making their fellow runners aware of the ongoing existence and prevalence of stillbirth.Through their sweat, our runners have been helping us break down the barriers to acknowledging that stillbirth continues to be a significant public health issue. In 2014, you can too.

All we need from you is a $100 registration fee and a genuine dedication to raise $1,000 for our charity. In return, we will supply you with a spot on our Gold Team, a running singlet, a cap, and a complimentary post-event brekkie with your family on Bondi Beach.

So join our Gold Team now and be sure to pass this onto your friends and family who want to challenge themselves this year by participating in this amazing event whilst also raising funds for your favourite charity!

Individual places will also open in late February and you can keep an eye on that by clicking here.

Sydney 2 CAMberra - February 14 + 15, 2014

With such a brilliant turn out at the 2013 ride, the Stillbirth Foundation is pleased to be a benefiting charity of Sydney 2 CAMberra again in February, 2014. This event was put together by Nadine and Graham Belfield, in memory of their son, Cameron, who was stillborn in 2011.

So far, these incredible riders have raised $78,000. For more information about the ride, click here, or show your support for these wonderful riders by clicking here.

We wish all the fabulous riders the best of luck with last minute training, and a very fun and safe ride!
