Australian start-ups pitch to US investors at the Advance 50 for the Future Innovation Summit
Australia’s most innovative start-ups were in Silicon Valley last month to take part in our Advance 50 for the Future
Innovation Summit. Twenty-eight companies were selected to take part in the program which included pitching workshops and one-on-one mentoring from Australia’s most successful overseas-based entrepreneurs. Participants attended the three-day Summit, where they pitched to US-based VCs and angel investors. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from investors, who were impressed with the quality of ideas and talent. Traveling alone through El Salvador on several occasions, Steven Laxton was recently recognised as the 2012 Arnold Newman Prize winner for excellence in portrait photography. Steven is only the fifth artist to be honored with the $15,000 prize, awarded for his photo essay of small family circuses that roam the rural El Salvador countryside. Read More

The John Monash Scholarships, awarded by the General Sir John Monash Foundation, were established to foster leadership, expertise, and international networks, and build Australia’s capabilities for the future. This year, nine outstanding Australians were selected to participate in the program and will head overseas for up to three years of postgraduate study.
