CPC Queens Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Benefit Honoree

Austin F. Cheng

Austin F. Cheng, Esq. is the Chief Executive Officer of Gramercy Surgery Center, New York State's leading independent ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) with locations in Manhattan and Queens. Austin is an attorney by trade and, from 2015-2019, served on active duty with the United States Army as a Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps attorney. During his time as an active duty lawyer, Austin served as a criminal prosecutor and criminal defense attorney—participating in military courts-martial across the country as well as criminal trials in federal court.   

Since returning home to New York in 2019, Austin continues his military service as an attorney for the US Army Reserve while leading operations at Gramercy Surgery Center. Under Austin’s leadership, Gramercy Surgery Center’s facilities have been ranked the #1 and #2 ASC by Newsweek from 2021-2024, as it provides low-cost, quality outpatient surgical care to New Yorkers across all boroughs. Austin was also a candidate for United States Congress in 2023 in New York's Third Congressional District, prior to the election transitioning to a special election. 

Austin received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from Union College in 2011, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Brooklyn Law School in 2014, and a Masters of Health Administration (M.H.A.) from Cornell University in December 2021. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the Co-Chair of the Board of Advisors for the Career Skills Academy of the CUNY School of Public Health Foundation, and a Board Member of Queens Legal Services. 

 

CPC Queens Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Benefit will take place on Wednesday, May 29th 2024 at Terrace on the Park.
