Interpreting for Bill Gates
Last week, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation teamed up with Futbol Club Barcelona to announce a three-year partnership to give polio one final kick goodbye.
For those of you not familiar with professional soccer, FC Barcelona is one of the world's most dominant (and second richest) teams. They are the 2009 and 2010 World Cup Champions and recently defeated Manchester United in the 2011 Champions League Finals. With 18 million Facebook fans, their goal to raise awareness and funds for polio should be considered yet another victory.
The press conference took place in Washington, DC at the Newseum. It was an exciting event packed with lots of media, crazed fans, and our very own Sandra Alboum.
Sandra, a graduate of the Autonomous University of Barcelona is the only professionally certified Catalan translator within 100 miles of Washington, DC. She was hired to interpret for super-philanthropist Bill Gates, proving once again that Alboum really is the agency for the Good Guys!
Does it get any cooler than that?
Sandra scored an FC Barcelona autographed jersey!
