MAY - JUNE NEWSLETTER

QFSR SKILLS ALLIANCE TURNS 25!

This month QFSR Skills Alliance reached a major milestone – we turned 25!  Happy Birthday to us!

Yes, we were officially launched on 2 June 1993 by Wayne Swan, then MP and Federal Member for Lilley, who was representing Kim Beasley, then Federal Minister for Employment, Education and Training.  You can see by the photo a number of other well known political dignatories were also present.

How time flies.  It is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment of past and present Board members, staff and industry all working together to achieve positive workforce, skills and training outcomes for the fitness, sport and recreation industry in Queensland.  There has certainly been some changes over the last 25 years.

We will be celebrating in the future with an event to recognise this milestone, so watch this space for further details.

QFSR SKILLS ALLIANCE RESEARCH REPORT – SKILLS AND TRAINING NEEDS

Thank you to everyone who has participated in our research on skills and training needs over the next 3 to 5 years.  Whether you completed the on line survey, participated in our workshop, did a phone interview or were able to meet face to face, we certainly appreciate your time, knowledge and expertise in providing your industry insights.

The information has been used to inform a Research Report for Jobs Queensland.  A draft report has been submitted to JQ and a final report will be made available on our website in the very near future.

Also congratulations to Hughenden Aquatic Centre who is the winner of the $250 Coles/Myer gift card for completing the on line survey.  Your prize is on its way.
