Dear friends,

As a nation founded on Judeo-Christian principles, Thanksgiving is a day set aside to acknowledge God’s faithful and lavish provision. We are a people abundantly blessed by all world standards. As followers of Jesus, we are especially thankful because we are at peace with God through the gift of His Son.

The Mosaic Law established five types of sacrifices and other offerings. The fellowship offerings (or “peace” offerings) accompanied expressions of thanksgiving, and were the occasion for a communal meal representing covenantal fellowship. Offerings were given by those who were at peace with God, expressing gratitude and fellowship with Him. Life was rooted in worship -- and the quality of that worship was determined by conduct toward others.

This year, as we gather for our Thanksgiving meal, may it be a purposeful act of worship, acknowledging covenantal peace and thankfulness to our Heavenly Father. May gratitude and worship continue to permeate our lives, and be apparent in the way we love God and love people.

We are a blessed nation, and have much to be thankful for. On behalf of the board and staff of Hope Force International, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for you. Thank you for choosing to partner with us on behalf of others who are in desperate need of help and hope.

P.S.  As we write this, please remember the people of the Philippines who suffer greatly in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, and for those in the U.S. midwest who have been devasted by an unseasonable outbreak of tornadoes.  Please pray for our dedicated Hopeforce responders who are serving in both places -- providing medical, emotional and spiritual, and practical care for these survivors.
