THE SPRING BREAK ISSUE – Spring is about new. Spring is about life. Spring is about rebirth and fresh starts. Here at Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates, the spirit of spring runs deep. It’s apparent in the way we tackle our day-to-day work, the excitement surrounding our completed projects and most definitely in our people. (And speaking of fresh starts, check out our new website, and be sure to read about our colleague Dan O’Brien in InterKOM.)

The sun is out. The skies are blue. Throw open those windows, let the fresh air fill your lungs and enjoy this (newly designed!) issue of KOMAink!

Featured Projects: New Attractions at MOA!

Not sure what to do with the kids during spring break? Here’s a hint: get to Mall of America and let ‘em scream a bit.

MOA and Nickelodeon Universe recently held grand openings for two new attractions: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock and Dutchman’s Deck Anchor Drop. Working with a number of high-profile partners, KOMA architects and engineers helped bring both rides to life.

Shell Shock is the first ever ride of its kind in the U.S., a cantilevered arm that rotates around a central tower and gives guests ultimate control over their experience. Anchor Drop consists of two eye-popping, intertwining tubes that form a spiral slide system, sending riders downward from heights up to 56 feet in the air.

Sip. Sip. Sip.

Once the adrenaline from the new MOA rides wears off, you’ll no doubt be ready to relax with a nice cup of bubble tea.

What exactly is bubble tea? Glad you asked. It’s an Asian import already popular on the coasts and it features pearls of tapioca or other flavors at the bottom of the cup. And its recent arrival at MOA – in the form of new franchise Chatime – was made possible in part by designers from KOMA.

INTERKOM

It’s springtime! Everywhere you look our world is starting anew. What was brown is slowly turning to green. What was dormant is now surging back to life. And we’re no different. Spring is a time to take a deep breath, stretch out our legs and – gladly and with excitement – embrace the next chapters of our lives.

I couldn’t be more excited this spring. And it’s in this springtime spirit that I share some happy news with you.
