Planned outage for the Student Management SystemIntegrated Business Improvement and Student System Support (IBISS) will perform an upgrade of the Student Management System (SMS) on Saturday 4 August from 8am to 8pm. During this time, the SMS client and eVision portal will be unavailable for staff and students. A notification will also be displayed in the SMS homepage and client login screens two weeks prior to the upgrade. An update will be released once the services are restored. There will be no changes to the usual way of using these services once the upgrade is completed. OneMassey is getting a fresh, new lookA new look for OneMassey, the University staff intranet, will be unveiled soon. The new-look intranet will contain all the same staff-related information in the current site adapted in a fresh, new design. Existing team, project, committee, and community sites will also be redesigned and moved to the new-look intranet in the near future. Site owners will be informed of the process and schedule before it happens.
New touch panels in shared teaching and learning spacesIf you teach in one of the ITS-supported shared teaching and learning spaces, ITS encourages you to check out the upgraded touch panels prior to your first class. The new screen interface features the basic functions familiar to you with variations in some rooms for Mediasite, Video Linked Teaching, among others. To date, twenty-four rooms have been upgraded to support a more flexible, agile, and digital use of the spaces. Read more about interactive technologies A new way to order computers via AskUs coming August 2018A new way of ordering University-owned and managed computers will be coming to AskUs in August 2018. It features a simplified catalogue of supported work computer specifications which staff can browse through. Computer orders are placed by departmental administrators, who will now be able to complete single and bulk orders with peripherals, component upgrades, and file migration service add-ons in one form. Stay alert for phone scamsPhone scams come in waves and scammers are trying more creative ways of stealing your private details, even changing the phone number displaying on your call screen. The NZ Telecommunications Forum has some tips to help you spot a phone scam:
ITS reminds staff to take extra precaution when dealing with requests for sensitive information, including your Massey user code and password. Report any strange activity related to your University login credentials to the Service Desk.
