No Images? Click here Looking Back, Moving ForwardSo what did it take to build the John W. Knight Curiosity Lab? Thanks to the amazing work of our friends at O'Maine Studios, you can now see it for yourself! Check out the Making of the Curiosity Lab in the video below to learn how it all got started, and read on to find out what we're up to next and how you can be a part of our mission...your support will... Help Us Optimize the Lab We may have launched our flagship space, but we are not done yet! As learners wonder, explore, tinker and create in the Lab, new curiosities are continually emerging. In order to adequately respond to the growing interests and inquiries of our learners, we are working to optimize the Lab and build up our collection of technology, tools, materials and resources to better support curiosity-driven learning. With your support we can help learners become explorers of their environments, equipped with binoculars, cameras, and field guides, or become digital makers with a collection of Raspberry Pi's and a laser cutter. The more we grow our collections, the better we are able to support each learner's development of a curiosity mindset and lifelong love of learning. Help Us Reach More Learners Not only are we building the Lab's collections, we are also working to expand and increase offerings with Breakwater's Enrichment Program, so more learners across the Greater Portland area can experience all the possibilities a Curiosity Lab has to offer. This will include more after-school classes, playgroups for our youngest learners, pop-up events and more. We are also beginning work with Breakwater's Parent Education & Professional Development Program to design online learning opportunities and maker groups for curious teachers and parents. Help Us Build a Mobile Lab It is our mission to create responsive learning environments, and curiosity-driven educational opportunities for learners of all ages. To help us reach more learners, we are developing a Mobile Curiosity Lab, inspired by the versatility and outreach capacity of a library’s Bookmobile. We plan to hit the road with our traveling caravan of curiosities in the fall of 2018 and launch our first pop-up tour! Every Little Bit Helps The more we raise, the faster we can grow and the more learners we can reach. Thank you for your continued support! The JWK Curiosity Lab |
