We are delighted to announce our plans for 2011/12. We shall again be based at The Purcell School as the planned move to Merchant Taylors' School as a new base proved impossible due to issues over dates.
We have a great season of concerts lined-up and look forward to performances from many artists known to our audience. The Pille Lill Music Fund is again supporting one concert with their Artimus Ensemble as part of an exchange programme which also features Malcolm Messiter as soloist - he will also be playing the same programme with the ensemble the previous week as part of Tallinn Festival. Anthony Goldstone, one of Britain's most distinguished pianists, makes a welcome return with a recital largely featuring transcriptions of orchestral works and which culminates with one later arranged for orchestra, Mussorgsky's Pictures from an Exhibition which he plays according to hte composer's manuscript. Students from The Purcell School will be providing one concert and the series is completed by two quintet concerts with chamber ensembles from the English Classical Players: James Sherlock appears again with a concerto - Chopin's 2nd - in a chamber arrangement in the first half and Dvorak's wonderful quintet in the second and the season ends with two sublime quintets from Mozart and Schubert.
Please note that although we may continue to experiment with the best configuration of the hall, we anticipate that all performances will be given from the stage rather than the area in front as last season.
Booking is open now, click here for full programme details and online sales.
We are extremely grateful for the continued support of The Purcell School. Please note that The Purcell School Symphony Orchestra concert at the end of October which is normally presented as part of our subscription will be taking place at the Colosseum on October 30th. Issues relating to data management made trust involvement in this event impossible. We have therefore left a space in our season in the hope that you will be interested to attend this concert. In order to avoid the hall's £1.50 per ticket booking fee we recommend purchasing tickets for cash.
