CLARKSVILLE, TN RESERVIST ALERT -- JULY 9, 2016

Hello Hope Force Reservists!

Thursday’s torrential rains in the Clarksville, TN area produced a “Tennessee Declared State of Emergency.” The rains caused major flooding in the hilly communities of West TN and Kentucky.

According to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), six counties surrounding Nashville and areas north – up to Kentucky -- were impacted by locally heavy rainfall; some of these locations received up to 8 inches.

"This line of thunderstorms didn't merely sweep through, but rather trained over parts of Kentucky and Tennessee like boxcars of a train moving over the same section of railroad track, bringing repeated rounds of heavy rain over one inch per hour," said weather.com Senior Meteorologist Jonathan Erdman.

Hope Force, through its relationship with TN Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (TNVOAD), discovered that hands are needed to help the 30-plus homeowners that received water into their homes. David Sledge of TEMA and a Southern Baptist representative at the TNVOAD table, stated:  "We only have 5 volunteers as of 11:00am Saturday, July 9th. We NEED help with debris removal! Able bodies with gloves and clothes who don't mind being muddy.”

Hope Force will be responding with an initial one- (possibly two) day response, SUNDAY, JULY 10Come join us, in an act of worship, as we work with other TNVOAD organizations to serve the great people of Tennessee.
