The Committee of Management (COM) is meeting with AFL-Tas team in mid February.
ALF Tas Chief Executive Officer Scott Wade and General Manager Shaun Young will firstly answer some questions on notice by the COM and then discuss the possibilities associated with applying for an extension of our licence to play in the TSL.
Our Patron Dr. Frank Madil has agreed to chair the meeting.
It is no secret the Club has voiced its opposition to many decisions made by AFL Tasmania over the past three years. Hopefully this meeting will go some way to addressing some unanswered questions the COM has.
We have continually sought additional financial assistance from AFL-Tas to improve the Club's football department and the services to our Zone. It is our understanding that ALL other TSL Clubs has enjoyed such addtional funding in one way or another.
All of our requests to date have been rejected, leading the COM to believe the Club is being treated differently to other TSL Clubs, or in other words, discriminated against.
However, thankfully we may finally be getting somewhere. In the Mercury newspaper of February 2nd 2012, AFL Chairperson Mr Dominic Baker was quoted in respect to additional funding to TSL Clubs - "We've done stuff with every Club except North Launceston to be honest".
This is a vital meeting for the Club and we will keep members advised accordingly.
