His multilingual campaign was historic for AAPI, Muslim and immigrant communities, and representative of the growing population and power of these communities. "As the nation's largest Asian American social services agency, serving over 80,000 AAPI and immigrant New Yorkers each year, CPC recognizes the significance of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's victory for the AAPI community. We worked alongside Mr. Mamdani in the NYS Assembly to advocate for Just Pay for human services workers and Fair Pay for Home Care Workers, to Fix the MTA, and to fight for universal childcare. Now we look forward to working alongside New York City's first AAPI Mayor to ensure that all our communities have the resources needed to thrive," said Wayne Ho, President and CEO of the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC). CPC provides critical social services for over 80,000 Chinese American, immigrant and low-income New Yorkers of all ages and beliefs each year in all five boroughs. AAPI New Yorkers are the fastest growing population in New York City and experience the highest levels of poverty. CPC looks forward to working alongside the new Mayoral Administration and the City Council to ensure the successful implementation of social services and resources to our communities.
