Van, Texas Tornado - Situation Report

At approximately 8:45 PM Sunday night, the small community of Van, Texas was slammed by a tornado resulting in damage to approximately 30% of the town.  As we write, national news reports state that more than 25 people have been taken to the hospital and 10 people are still unaccounted for.  Many staff members with Hope Force International (HFI) have a long and deep history with this area of East Texas, which makes this particular event very “personal.”

We’ve spoken to friends, staff and HFI Reservists in the area in an effort to formulate our response.  HFI Programs Director Craig Snow is heading to the area with tools, supplies and equipment that will be used to aid in the relief and recovery effort. Craig has extensive experience and expertise in tornado recovery.  He will provide technical know-how and leadership to Reservists and other volunteers who will join him in HFI’s efforts.

Please join us in prayer for the survivors as they face the long road to recovery before them.  HFI will provide expertise, supplies and materials for proper blue tarp application and other water penetration prevention services.  HFI emotional and spiritual care providers are also preparing to support those still reeling from this devastating blow.

Your prayers and financial support of this effort are much appreciated.
