3rd Grade eNews

We are so thankful for a great field trip! Don’t forget that this Monday, November 14, students are invited to wear Christmas attire to raise money for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Please bring $1, $2, or $3. Students can wear a Christmas sweater, t-shirt, sweater or even Christmas PJs! Turkey Projects are due on Monday, November 14th also!

Academics

  • Bible: Thanksgiving
  • Verse: Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
  • Spelling: In this unit, students will study the schwa sound. The schwa sound can be spelled a as in about, u as in upon, and e as in over.
  • Spelling Words: afraid, around, upon, never, eleven, animal, ever, about, again, another, problem, awake, clover, asleep, above
  • Math: 5 as a factor, Pictographs, 2 Digit Dividends, Bar Graphs, Estimation, Uneven Division
  • Science: Chapter 2:  Warm-Blooded Animals (Birds, Mammals, Humans)
  • English: Common/Proper nouns, Finding complete subject and complete predicate, Continue classifying sentences
  • Reading: Skill: Cause and Effect, Model: The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Book: Dream Wolf

Important Dates

  • November 14 - Christmas in November; Wear a Christmas sweater, t-shirt, sweater or even Christmas PJs!  Bring $1, $2, or $3 dollars to support Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes.
  • November 21-25 - NO SCHOOL! Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break!
