New from Innovative Polymers…
We have introduced three additions to our Inno-Tuf® polyurethanes family:
-
TP-4008 high-impact, high-heat resistance polyurethane features a pourable viscosity with a gel time of 10 minutes and demold time of less than two hours. It produces Shore 80D hardness parts that have a polypropylene/ABS-like feel. Impact resistance is 3.0 ft. lbs./in. and heat deflection temperature is 176˚F (80˚C) after cure. Early evaluations indicate that the new product may be suitable for some snap-fit applications with an elongation of 17% and flexural modulus of 155,000 psi.
-
TP-4057 rigid, impact-resistant polyurethane combines performance with a 1:1 pbv mix ratio, low viscosity for pouring ease, fast three-minute gel time and is ideal for molding tough, ABS-like parts in whatever shade of color you desire! (See link to an article on the power of color below.) The cured system has a Shore hardness of 80D, flexural modulus of 302,000 psi and impact strength of 1.7 ft.lb./in.
-
TP-4060 rigid, heat-resistant polyurethane is, like TP-4057, easy to color, gels in less than three minutes and has an easy-to-pour viscosity. In addition to a heat deflection temperature of 200˚F (93˚C), the new Shore 80D hardness product has a high flexural modulus of 360,000 psi and produces stiff, ABS-like parts.
In this E-news issue, we’re also highlighting RapidCast™ RC-200 (off-white) and RC- 210 (black) polyurethanes for casting high-impact strength (3.0 ft.lb./in.) parts that simulate polypropylene. These two rapid-setting products permit demolding in less than 20 minutes…for projects requiring faster part turn-around.

Did you know???

An article on Understanding The Power of Color, included in a Product Design & Development blog posting (10/14/2015) reported that many consumers evaluate a product’s color, logo and packaging before making a purchase. According to author Satyendra Singh (Department of Administrative Studies, University of Winnipeg), “Up to 90% of snap judgments made about products are based on color alone.” Plainly stated, not only does the color of your product or plastic packaging matter, but it can have immediate impact on whether or not a customer purchases your product. Innovative Polymers specializes in color-matching. We work closely
with customers to help achieve the desired color for virtually any type of cast part. Whether color is designed to help sort or color code components or contribute to a product’s aesthetic design, it can be readily attained with many of our polyurethanes.

Plastics News (9/9/2015) reports that rotomolding has a “very big future”. A Chinese company recently produced the world’s largest rotational molding machine for a Canadian customer. Size: 6.5 meters (21 feet) in diameter, 27 meters (88.5 feet) in length, 17 meters (nearly 56 feet) in width and 8 meters (26 feet) in height. Cost: $281,000. Application: rotational casting of storage products.

At Innovative Polymers, we see continued growth for our
rotational casting polyurethanes. These systems are formulated
with the low viscosities and extended gel times required to
provide for even, complete coating of tool surfaces for high-quality
rotomolded parts. The product line includes different
systems that offer high impact strength, high heat deflection, high
elongation and high tensile strength. Typical applications include:
amusement park ride seats, bottles and automotive tubing. Click here for a rotomolding case history.
