July 2019 - Consultation on Technical Arrangements of the 3.5 GHz Band

Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) is consulting on the technical principles for future spectrum users in the spectrum range of 3410 – 3800 MHz (the ‘3.5 GHz band’). The current management rights in the 3.5 GHz band will expire by 31st October 2022. We are in the process of re-planning this band. These proposed rules and associated technical arrangements will only come into effect when the new management rights are created.

Interested parties are invited to comment on the content of this document, in particular the questions posed, and on any related issues. Comments should be submitted in writing, no later than 5pm on Monday 29 July 2019.

Call for expressions of interest in FM sound broadcasting licence

An Application has been received for the following FM broadcasting spectrum licence:

Licence ID: 204819

• Location: 21 Racecourse Road, Omakau
• Frequency 89.5 MHz,
• Reserve price: $1,150.00 incl. GST

Radio Spectrum Management is seeking expressions of interest in this commercial FM licence, closing 5pm on 26 July 2019.

Following this, a decision will be made regarding if the licence can be allocated by direct sale or by a competitive allocation process.

Updated EMC Standards Notice 2019

A new edition of the ‘EMC Standards Notice’ came into effect on 4 June 2019.

The new notice removes standards which have been withdrawn by the issuing authority.

These standards and their replacements include,

• AS/NZS CISPR 13 and AS/NZS CISPR 22 withdrawn and replaced with AS/NZS CISPR 32
• EN55013 EN55022 and EN55103-1 withdrawn and replaced with EN55032
• CISPR 13 and CISPR 22 withdrawn and replaced with CISPR 32

A supplier may continue to supply a product that has been tested to an expired industry standard, provided that standard was in effect at the time of signing the Declaration of Conformity. A supplier is not required to re-test the product to the amended or replacement standard. However, these arrangements do not apply if the product is subsequently modified—the product may need to be re-tested in part or in full to the replacement standard, depending on the modification.
