Pre-Installation Questions to Ask Yourself

When selecting a safe, quality mount, begin by asking the following questions:

Where will the display or projector or video wall be mounted?

Is the mounting surface or supporting structure sturdy enough to endure the weight of the installation?

What is the difference between a 50 lb. and 500 lb. mount installation? Read more

Mounting Challenges

Premier Mounts' Director of Manufacturing, Rich Pierro, put together a list of common challenges faced with video wall installations for an article in the February 2011 issue of Sound and Communications, where he discussed the massive 100-screen video wall installation at McCarran airport in Las Vegas using Premier Mounts' LMV video wall mount.

"…you're asking displays to line up within .020 in. across multiple displays on a wall surface that has even a 1/16th in. variation in flatness…we're facing accumulating variables [that] we're asking the mount to compensate for and still rest in its 'home position'" Read more

Quality Testing

All of our mounts are tested to hold four times the stated weight capacity and all carts and stands are tested at a 15 degree tipping angle at maximum weight in order to make sure people are not getting hurt.

Many of our products, including almost all of the Value Assortment, contains a UL or ETL certified mark, indicating that the specific product demonstrates compliance to the requirements of widely accepted product safety standards Read more

Safety Tips for Projector Installations

Support the weight.  Always make sure the ceiling or structure can support the weight of both the mount and the projector with a minimum 4x safety factor.

Universal vs. Model-Specific.  Both model-specific and universal mounts safely hold a projector attached to the ceiling.  Model-specific brackets are available with custom mounting hole patterns that match with the projector, resulting in a faster install.

Vaulted Ceilings may require a special bracket that attaches to an angled structural support.

Above-the-ceiling installations require parts such as suspension pipes, T-bar frame adapters, or false ceiling plates.  Be aware of plenum air space restrictions Read more

Mounting Tips for Flat-Panel Mounts

On a job walk, check if there are mounting points behind the wall or ceiling, the durability of the wall or mounting structure, and if accessories such as extension poles will be necessary.

Verify the mounting pattern before purchase.  Choose a mount with a mounting pattern that is compatible with the display.  A proper fit ensures the right weight-carrying capacity and may also fit perfectly behind the body of the display for a finished look.

Find the best spot on the wall to mount the display.  Location and wall space are key starting points.  Use a poster or picture relative to the display size on the wall to test different scenarios.

Leave some breathing room.  Be sure to leave ample space for ventilation and cable routing, even when using an ultra-thin, low-profile mount Read more
